This individual will work closely with senior research professionals to assist in preparing and executing analyses of specific areas within SMID Biopharmaceuticals & Animal Health. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of intellectual curiosity, passion for biotech innovation, Animal Health, and the stock market, and the ability to be a strong team player in a fast-paced environment. Previous sell side associate experience is preferred.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Formulate investment recommendations based on fundamental analysis, valuation and risk assessment of individual companiesLeverage scientific and financial mindset in writing research reports on companies for distribution to the Leerink sales force and institutional clientsCollect and analyze data (i.e., scientific papers, clinical trial data) related to biopharma and Animal HealthInterview company executives and medical/industry experts to develop and maintain sources of information in preparation of analysesBuild, update and maintain financial models to inform investment recommendationsKeep up to date on all sector-relevant market news and medical meeting presentationsAnswer inquiries from firm personnel and external clientsSupport senior equity research professionals by attending events of special interest (i.e., medical conferences, investor meetings)Experience and Qualifications:Qualified candidates must be hard-working self-starters with a passion for leveraging their medical/scientific background and financial modeling skills towards equity researchMedical or scientific background: Minimum BS or MS level requiredFinancial background strongly preferred: 1+ years of sell-side associate experience preferred, with relevant licensing exams (SIE, Series 86/87, Series 63) completedIndustry/business experience is a plus: 1+ years of experience at a leading consulting form, or 1+ years of experience in a business development or corporate strategy role at a pharmaceutical firmFamiliarity and knowledge of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries including clinical development, regulatory affairs, business development, and commercializationExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to search, understand and interpret scientific and medical publicationsStrong quantitative, financial modeling, forecasting and Excel skillsEqual Employment Opportunity:Leerink Partners is an equal opportunity employer and is dedicated to expanding its commitments and investments to create a more diverse, equitable and inclusive company culture and innovation ecosystem.
