The salary range listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.Status: Full Time RegularShift: EVENING SHIFTDepartment: LAB-Blood BankPosition SummarySummary:Under the direction of the Blood Bank Manager, the Section Head is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the transfusion service to ensure safe, timely, and compliant delivery of blood products. This role includes supervising and mentoring laboratory staff, coordinating workflow, and maintaining adequate inventory of blood components. The supervisor ensures adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., AABB, NYSDOH, CAP), supports quality assurance and process improvement initiatives, and investigates and resolves transfusion-related incidents. Additional responsibilities include staff training and competency assessment, review of complex antibody workups, policy and procedure development, and collaboration with clinical teams to support patient care.QualificationsResponsibilities:Education Required • Must complete in-house orientation program • B.S. degree from an accredited college or university Experience And Skills • Excellent interpersonal skills • Speaks, reads and writes English • 6 years experience post B.S. degree License/Certifications • NYS Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or permit.Working ConditionsOther information:Working Conditions • Standing for prolonged periods of time • Exposure to biohazardous materials
