I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:• Performs histologic techniques, routine and special staining and preparation of cytologic specimens.II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:• Essential: standing, sitting, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking.• Continuous: sitting, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.• Frequent: walking, twisting body, reaching above and at shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions. • Occasional: standing, stooping/bending, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, lifting weight of 10 pounds up to 50 pounds. • Operates microtome, tissue processor, tissue embedder, computer, label printer, calculator, telephone, fax and printer.III TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.• Exposure to blood and body fluids, chemicals, communicable diseases and other hazardous materials.• Exposure to fumes from formaldehyde, xylene and alcohol.IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:• Current certification as Histotechnician HT(ASCP) or Histotechnologist HTL(ASCP) with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP).B.
