Pay Rate: $45 - $55/hr Shift Timings: 11AM- 7PM Summary: Provides surgical assistance to the surgical residents and attending in the oral surgery clinic and dental ambulatory OR/procedure room. Responsibilities: Escort patients to the surgical chair, screen patients awaiting surgery, and review medical records to confirm treatment required and ensure chart completeness. Provide “four-handed” assistance to clinicians at all times. Ensure that all countertops, mayo stands, and equipment are cleaned and disinfected prior to setting up. Organize all sterile instruments, surgical trays, and equipment for each procedure in the operatory. Take radiographs as requested, before, during, and/or after the procedure. Restock cabinets and drawers; order and stock medical/surgical supplies. Provide chair-side assistance in monitoring patient's vitals, suctioning, passing of instruments, and medications. Remove all instruments and equipment at the end of the procedure and dispose of medical waste during the break-down period. Demonstrate proven ability to respond effectively in case of an emergency. Requirements: Dental Assistant Certification and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Minimum of 3 years experience required, 5 years preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Education: Associate's Degree.
