Job Description SUMMARY A Shoreside Tankerman Supervisor is responsible for supervising and training Tankermen as well as loading and discharging barges. Following Martin Marine's rules and procedures, in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). In addition, perform Tankerman evaluations and barge inspections to assess the capability of doing each job safely and efficiently. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES It is the duty of a Shoreside Tankerman Supervisor to oversee cargo transfer operations (covered by extensive laws and regulations of the U.S. Coast Guard). The objective is to transfer cargo in a safe, pollution-free manner. NO HARM to people, property, or planet. A Shoreside Tankerman Supervisor is primarily accountable to report unsafe conditions, observe laws, rules, and procedures, intervene to stop unsafe acts, and respect every job task. Operational * Loading and discharging barges per transfer procedures. * Barge inspections. * PIC/Tankerman evaluations. * Tankerman training. * Overseeing high risk transfers. * Traveling to various facilities on the US waterways. Maintenance * Oil changes on pump engines and generators. * Fuel filter changes on pump engines, generators, and heaters. * Greasing machinery on barges (valves, dogs, winches, booms, PTO's, and shafts) * Adjusting or repacking valve stems and pump shafts. Paperwork * PIC/Tankerman evaluations * Barge inspection reports * Shoreside Tankerman authorization forms * DOI (Document of Inspection) * Hourly discharge reports * Tankerman log book * Coding and billing * Expense reports * Mileage logs Job Requirements QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The Tankerman is required to be coast guard certified to conduct necessary transfers of the various liquid cargoes handled by Martin Marine. The Tankerman must be able to demonstrate special handling (loading and discharging) of cargo, fuels, and lubes. Must obtain a U.S.C.G./MMC-MMD PIC-DL and a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Must maintain a valid driver's license and social security card Must pass a physical, drug screen and a background investigation. Must be able to work as a team, take directions, keep required work schedule, have attention to detail and follow work rules EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE * EDUCATION: High School or Equivalent, skilled related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience * PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: * a) 5 years of continuous Tankerman or supervisory experience. * b)Take and follow directions from immediate supervisor * c) 50 Transfers documented without incident
