About the JobPosition Overview:We are seeking a highly experienced Medical Director - Correctional Health Services to lead and oversee comprehensive medical operations within a correctional healthcare program.This leadership role offers the opportunity to shape high-quality, patient-centered care delivery in a complex clinical environment while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across behavioral health, primary care, specialty services, and hospital systems. The Medical Director will play a critical role in improving health outcomes for an underserved population.Schedule:Full-time, day shift.Hours: Approximately 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.No weekends.No on-call responsibilities.Key Responsibilities:Clinical & Operational Leadership:Direct and coordinate all medical services within Correctional Health Services.Provide clinical oversight for adult health and women's health programs.Collaborate with Behavioral Health leadership to ensure integrated care delivery.Serve as supervising physician for advanced practice providers and consultant to nursing leadership.Act as liaison between correctional providers and specialty, inpatient, emergency, and outpatient services.Quality & Performance Improvement:Oversee quality management and performance improvement programs.Identify and address clinical quality issues using established protocols.Analyze workflows, job design, and operational processes; implement improvements for efficiency and effectiveness.Support the development and execution of departmental goals aligned with organizational objectives.Staff Leadership & Development:Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate physicians and clinical staff.Foster a collaborative, high-performing clinical environment.Lead provider engagement and retention initiatives.Provide education and training to residents, students, and advanced practice providers.Program Development & Compliance:Develop, implement, and revise clinical policies and procedures.Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and healthcare guidelines.Maintain current knowledge of advancements in medical practice and correctional healthcare.Support health promotion, patient education, and orientation programs.Stakeholder Collaboration:Maintain effective working relationships with internal leadership, correctional partners, vendors, and external stakeholders.Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.Promote a patient-centered approach emphasizing respect, communication, and quality care.Job Accountabilities:Evaluate and improve departmental workflows and operational efficiency.Develop and monitor departmental budgets to ensure alignment with goals.Establish internal controls to ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance.Set and track annual departmental goals and objectives.Oversee staff performance, including coaching, development, and disciplinary actions as needed.Ensure ongoing professional development opportunities for staff.Required Qualifications:Completion of an ACGME- or AMA-approved residency program (required).Board Certified in an appropriate specialty (required).Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in clinical medical programs (required).Experience working in multidisciplinary healthcare environments (required).Ability to obtain a Texas Medical License within 180 days (required).Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills (required).Proven ability to recruit, develop, and motivate clinical teams (required).Most recent NPDB Self Query report (within 30 days) (required at submission).At least one professional reference within the past 24 months (required).Must not require visa sponsorship (required).Preferred Qualifications:Experience in a correctional healthcare setting.Clean malpractice and licensure history.Spanish language proficiency.Skills & Competencies:Strong written and verbal communication skills.Demonstrated clinical excellence and leadership credibility.Ability to build and maintain productive professional relationships.Skilled in addressing social determinants of health in care planning.High level of organization with attention to detail and strategic awareness.Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion.Innovative, solution-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills.Ability to work effectively in fast-paced or evolving environments.Proficiency with standard computer applications and healthcare systems.Compensation & Benefits:Competitive physician leadership salary (commensurate with experience).Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.Retirement savings plan with employer contributions.Paid time off and holidays.Continuing Medical Education (CME) support.Professional liability insurance coverage.Leadership and professional development opportunities.Access to a collaborative, academic healthcare environment.
