Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Position Title Academic Scholar - Physician Scientist; Department of Medicine Posting Category Faculty Department Medicine Posting Number U260000 Posting Link Employer University Affiliates Appointment Term Position Type Posting Detail Information Position Summary The Department of Medicine at the University at Buffalo invites applications for multiple full-time physician scientist faculty positions at Assistant or Associate Professor level. Roles and Expectations: * Develop and maintain an independent and externally funded research portfolio. * Support multidisciplinary research teams in federal funding applications. * Maintain scholarly productivity through publications of peer reviewed manuscripts and speaking at national/international conferences. * Advise master's and doctoral students and mentor medical students. * Conduct quantitative analyses and review analyses conducted by master's level statisticians in support of health system research. * Support Department and Division goals to increase research productivity through collaborations with clinical faculty. * Possibility to teach graduate level courses to master's and doctoral students. About the Department of Medicine As the largest department within the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (JSMBS), the Department of Medicine is home to over 140 faculty members and 14 divisions. The department is comprised of multiple divisions, each specializing in different areas of care and research. Faculty members within these divisions provide comprehensive and specialized services at affiliated medical centers and community sites. Minimum Qualifications * Applicants must have an MD, DO, or equivalent degree * BC/BE in internal medicine and/or subspeciality of internal medicine * Research training with MS or PhD in health services research, clinical research, or behavioral research. Preferred Qualifications * Research experience in conducting analyses related to the delivery, conduct, or outcomes of healthcare, in either a health system or community setting * Strong candidates will demonstrate an ability to develop well-designed applications for federal research funding, support clinical and health services researchers in development of quantitative aims in applications for federal funding, and have a background of publications in peer-reviewed journals. * Research addressing population health, developing programs to optimize health outcomes for vulnerable populations, or investigating the cost of disparities in care is valued. Expertise in conducting retrospective data analysis using large national datasets, VA, or health system electronic medical record data, and conducting randomized controlled trials are also encouraged. * Successful candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for developing and working with multidisciplinary teams and engaging faculty and trainees, and an interest in conducting independent research as well as supporting multidisciplinary teams in developing collaborative grant applications.
