Job Description POSITION TITLE:               Director, Community Living & Residential Services DIVISION:                  Supported Living CLASSIFICATION:       Exempt STATUS:                     Full-Time PURPOSE: Provide direct administration to staff working in Supported Living and Residential Services. Oversee the development, training, and placement of staff to best meet the needs of persons served. Oversee the integration and coordination of each person's treatment program. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: * Interview, hire, train, evaluate and supervise the Staff Supervisors, QIDPs, and Clerical Assistant for Supported Living. Ensure that staff provide services based on the documentation requirements in 460 IAC, CARF, BDDS, ISBH and local and federal law. * Interview and hire Caregivers for the Developmentally Disabled as needed. * Monitor and document all Staff Schedulers, QIDPs, and PTO and Medical time off and leaves of absence. * Audit and approve Staff Scheduler's, QIDPs, and Clerical Support Staff time and mileage sheets to ensure that schedules are followed and that time entered for time worked is accurate. * Assist House Managers and Team Leads with disciplinary concerns and implementing required discipline for Caregivers for the Developmentally Disabled. * Master and maintain knowledge of the Supported Living Scheduling system in Provide. * Oversee Staff Schedulers and House Managers in all aspects of staff scheduling, including managing coverage when staff call offs or open shifts exist. * Monitor that staff training requirements are met to meet the following standards: BQIS, CARF, Medicaid, and BDDS. * Assist with the development and implementation of short and long-range programming including program evaluation system. Review and update systems as needed. * Serve as a liaison between persons receiving services, families, staff, professionals, and the community. * Safeguard persons receiving services' and families' human and civil rights. * Maintain the confidentiality of persons served. * Display patience in all situations involving persons served. Speak in an even, positive, and personal tone of voice when conversing with persons served. * Appropriately respond to person served behavior via verbal and/or physical intervention based on the needs of the person served. * Participate in weekly meetings with the Supported Living staffing team and participate in Supported Living office staff meetings as scheduled. * Ensure that employees follow all departmental and agency policies as well as state and federal laws. * Attend and actively participate in all monthly staff meetings for Supported Living CDDs and Lead CDDs. Be prepared to update staff on departmental changes and agency announcements and upcoming events. * Ensure documentation of Supported Living Services is completed, including but not limited to daily notes, MAR, training plans, risk plans, and any other necessary documentation. * Monitor the database of Supported Living Emergency Drills and ensure that Caregivers for the Developmentally Disabled are completing drills as scheduled. Provide a monthly summary of emergency drills to the Director, Community Living for the quarterly management report. * Develop and participate in monthly staff advisory meetings. * Participate in the on-call rotation. Provide direct care as needed. OTHER FUNCTIONS: * Complete incident reports, including BDDS, and needed follow-ups as needed. * Promote agency philosophies, generate team spirit, create and maintain an environment that fosters employee satisfaction, maximized productivity and profitability. * Conduct home visits to persons served for the purpose of monitoring person served programming as needed. * Participate in annual and quarterly meetings for persons served as needed. * Complete Supported Living staff schedules as needed. * Must be able to care for the physical needs of persons served including feeding, hygiene, and toileting. Must be capable of assisting in physically transferring/moving persons served when needed. Physical activities may include but not be limited to: lifting up 25-50 pounds (depending on person served); bending; stretching; grasping; visual acuity; walking; squatting; guiding; and transporting. * Use of medical adaptive equipment including, but not limited to, Wheelchair, Hoyer Lift, Shower Chair, and Blood Sugar Testing Equipment is required. * Complete duties as delegated by the Director, Community Living Services. * Perform public relation or information activities for the agency, locally, and statewide. ENVIRONMENT: * Occasional high noise levels may require the use of hearing protection. * Occasional exposure to fumes, oils, paints, and other industrial odors. * Potential exposure to bodily fluids, pests, contagious pathogens, and/or bed bugs. * Must be able to climb stairs daily to access work areas, which are currently without elevator access. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT: * Become active in an organization of related professionals. * Attend related training as authorized or required. QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's Degree in a human services field, or management field preferred plus at least three years of supervisory experience. Experience working with the intellectually disabled population preferred. * Must possess excellent communication skills both written an oral, and strong teamwork skills. Must have the ability to comfortably speak in front of groups of staff. * Must have the ability to successfully work in both independent and group settings. Must be capable of communicating effectively during a crisis situation. * Must be capable of attending meetings locally, out-of- town and at the state level. * Maintain a valid Indiana driver's license, insurance on personal vehicle (minimum of PLPD with Medical liability coverage), and maintain insurability as defined by the agency liability insurance carrier. * Must possess and maintain reliable transportation that meets state requirements for transporting persons served. * Must possess and maintain a clear criminal record as required by Medicaid Waiver regulations. * Must possess or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid Certification annually and perform as necessary. * Must possess or be able to obtain CPI certification annually and perform as necessary. * Dress appropriately as defined by department dress code.
