Job Summary: The Surgical Tech is responsible for assisting surgeons and nurses in the operating room, ensuring a safe and sterile environment for patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role involves preparing the operating room, sterilizing instruments, and assisting the surgical team during procedures. The Surgical Tech must possess a strong understanding of surgical procedures, aseptic techniques, and patient safety protocols.Location:Springfield, Illinois, United StatesResponsibilities: - Prepare the operating room with necessary instruments and equipment. - Ensure all equipment is functioning properly. - Sterilize and organize surgical instruments. - Assist surgeons and nurses during surgical procedures. - Maintain a sterile field throughout the procedure. - Anticipate the needs of the surgical team. - Handle specimens appropriately. - Clean and restock the operating room after procedures. - Float within scope of practice to meet facility needs. - Adhere to safety protocols, including fire safety, radiation safety, and sharps safety.Required Skills & Certifications: - Minimum 3 years of experience as a Surgical Tech. - BLS certification. - Aseptic Technique. - Isolation Precautions. - Radiation Safety. - Sharps Safety. - Specimen Handling/Labeling. - Universal Protocol (Time out) Procedure. - Experience with Drills (multiple types). - Experience with Electrosurgical units. - Experience with Fiber optic light sources/cords. - Experience with General OR, Teaching Hospital, and Trauma settings. - Experience with Direct Laryngoscopy, Radial neck dissection, Tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, Tracheostomy. - Experience with Colonoscopy, EGD, Peg tube placement/exchange. - Experience with Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection - Open/LAP, Hernia repair inguinal/umbilical, Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Mastectomy, Thyroidectomy partial/total. - Experience with Abdominal hysterectomy, Anterior/Posterior repair, Bilateral tubal ligation, Dilation & Curettage, Laparoscopic assisted gynecological procedures, Vaginal Hysterectomy. - Experience with Craniotomy, Laminectomy/discectomy, Lumbar fusion. - Experience with Repair of fractured jaws, mandibular and zygomatic. - Experience with Arthroscopy, Arthrotomy, Carpal tunnel release, Closed/Open reduction of fractures, Laminectomy/discectomy. - Experience with Free Flap - Microvascular. - Experience with Amputations, Gunshot/stab wounds, MVA (multiple injuries). - Experience with Cystoscopy, Laparoscopic assisted cases, Nephrectomy, Ureteroscopy. - Experience with Fire Safety. - Experience with Acute Care Hospital - Level I trauma center.Preferred Skills & Certifications: - CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) certification. - Teaching Hospital Experience. - Trauma Level I Experience.Special Considerations: - On-call required as needed for the department. - Must live >50 miles from facility to apply. - Must be in IL 3 business days prior to compliance HDD in order to meet fingerprinting requirements. - Weekends are once a month with a total of 16 hours of obligation.Scheduling: - 4x10 Days (0845-1915) - Discuss schedule requests with manager. - Discuss RTO with manager - all time off must be reviewed and approved by manager. - Client may call-off up to 36 hours per thirteen week assignment without paying for the cancelled hours. If Client cancels more hours than permitted by this section, Client will be billed for any shifts or portions thereof cancelled in excess of this section. If Candidates are placed on-call in lieu of being called off, that will count as a called-off shift.
