Job Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develops treatment plans by determining the nature and extent of psychiatric disorders and establishing treatment goals and methodologies, including prescription of psychotropic medications. Monitors and evaluates treatment results. Evaluates clients by interviewing client, family, and other persons; conducting physical examinations; observing behaviors; reviewing medical history and related documents; selecting, administering, and interpreting psychological tests; and ordering laboratory tests and evaluating results. Treats clients by utilizing psychotherapeutic methods and medications; discussing progress toward goals with clients; providing instructions; and monitoring effect of medications. Maintains interdisciplinary treatment by reviewing treatment plans and progress, and consulting and collaborating with primary care physicians, mental health therapists, nurses, and other health care providers. Assures quality and safe service for clients and staff by participating in utilization reviews; and remaining available for emergency consultations. Improves staff competence by providing discussions regarding the interrelationship betweenpsychosocial and physiological problems, psychotropic medications, crisis intervention, and related issues. Maintains historical records by documenting symptoms, medications, and treatment events and writing summaries. Completes communications and forms in regards to client cases as necessary by social services and other pertinent agencies. Updates job knowledge by participating in continuing medical educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations. Job Description Qualifications: Completion of a psychiatry residency or a combined family medicine/psychiatry residency in an ACGME-approved residency program Current BC/BE in Psychiatry (American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology) Valid state Medical license as MD/DO Valid DEA certificate Strong understanding of advocacy and the role it plays in mental health Detail-oriented with excellent time management, organizational, written, verbal, interpersonal, and computer skills Able to learn quickly and work effectively with a wide range of constituencies and with minimal supervision Current, valid California Driver's license with an acceptable driving record Strong interpersonal and team building skills Able to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification Job Description Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge and experience in chemical dependency and substance abuse treatment Knowledge of Medi-Cal documentation and requirements Minimum 30 WPM typing speed Bilingual Spanish Job Description Work Environment: Combination of field and office environment Regularly required to sit, stand, bend; occasionally lift or carry up to 35 lbs.
