OPPORTUNITY The Peter O'Donnell Jr. School of Public Health (OSPH) at UT Southwestern is seeking a dynamic, accomplished professional at the [Associate/Full] Professor level to establish and develop research opportunities for Clinical Data Coordination Center grants. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the OSPH Dean, the Associate Dean of Data Sciences, the Associate Dean of Research and the Chair of Health Data Sciences and Biostatistics, other department chairs, and university administration to bring extensive experience in building, managing and supporting multi-site clinical research data operations and establishing robust data coordination infrastructure. O'DONNELL SCHOOL OF PUBLIC HEALTH Founded with a $100 million transformative gift from the O'Donnell Foundation - the largest founding gift to public school of public health - UT Southwestern Peter O'Donnell Jr. School of Public Health has grown rapidly and now includes a multidisciplinary team of 70 primary faculty members, 60+ scholars with secondary appointments, and 85+ staff who conduct research and prepare the next generation of professionals to address major public health challenges. THE DEPARTMENT - HEALTH DATA SCIENCES AND BIOSTATISTICS * The Department of Health Data Sciences and Biostatistics (HDS&B) is rapidly growing department, led by Yang Xie, PhD, Professor and Associate Dean of Data Sciences and includes 27 faculty members and an additional 20 faculty with primary appointments in other Departments and with secondary appointments in HDS&B. * This group includes highly trained biostatisticians and data scientists with expertise in artificial intelligence (AI), and with insight and experience in current and emerging uses of research and clinical data to impact biomedicine and public health. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Develop transformational clinical data coordination grants and work with a broad range of constituencies in the development of a state-of-the-art opportunies that will lead the institution into the future. * Identify and secure external funding to support center operations including from NIH, DOD, PCORI, CDC, state and local agency, and industry partners. * Lead the implementation of data management systems and tools-work with collaborators to build data management and tools to support the clinical and research enterprises and support the needs of individual investigators. * Foster collaborations with researchers inter and intra institutional-build bridges with the clinical departments and faculty and the health systems to mentor junior faculty and staff in data coordination methodologies, and design and implement data coordination infrastructure for large-scale clinical studies * Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and data security standards REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * A doctoral Degree (Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent) in Biostatistics, Heath Data Sciences, Health Informatics, Clinical Investigation or Research, or related field with experience and achievements appropriate for appointment as associate or full professor. * Significant experience in academic or healthcare data management, program development, education, and research or scholarship is expected. * Demonstrated experience in managing and coordinating clinical data to facilitate research and operational needs including a deep understanding of the regulatory, security and privacy aspects of data management. * Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and leadership skills and success in a complex environment. * Track record of achievement in team building, and managerial and strategic thinking. * History of successful research funding (ex. NIH, CDC, AHRQ, PCORI, industry, foundations etc.). * Successful oversight of multi-site clinical trials, cohorts or cross-sectional studies. * Strong publication record. * Outstanding teaching and mentoring experience in data management, and clinical research methods. * Transparent communication style and a collegial presence that encourages consensus building, collaboration, and cooperation and who is committed to developing faculty, staff, and trainees, and achieving prestige through the success of the program. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Demonstrated success in securing and managing federal grants specifically for data coordination centers * Experience serving as PI or Co-PI on multi-center clinical trials and their coordination * Track record of cooperative agreement awards such as NIH U01, U24 * History of successful collaboration with clinical research networks UT Southwestern Medical Center is committed to an educational and working environment that provides equal opportunity to all members of the University community.
