Position Type: Special Education/Special Education ParaprofessionalDate Posted: 2/2/2026Location: Lakeland High SchoolDistrict: Huron Valley SchoolsPOSITION DESCRIPTION Complement, supplement and reinforce students in instruction under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher in the SCI classroom.Position Type: Classroom Assistant/Special Education AssistantReports To: Building PrincipalStatus: School Year 2025-26Start Date: ASAPPosting Date: 2/3/2026Location: Lakeland High SchoolSalary: Para Contract, $16.25 Work Dates: Monday - FridayHours: 32.5 hours/week Closing Date: 2/9/2026 External: Until closedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMust have ability to work with students with physical, cognitive, emotional, learning and/or developmental disabilitiesPrevious experience working with this age special education student is preferredMust have the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with various school officials, principals, teachers and office personnelMust possess initiative to accept and carry out varied assignments along with a consistent, systematic approach to the tasks performedMust be willing to be trained in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention TechniquesMust be willing to use Nonviolent Crisis Intervention skills to physically manage students who are physically escalated as directed by the teacher/administratorOther duties assigned by the special education teacher or the building principalESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSComplement, supplement and reinforce student's instruction under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher in both special education and regular education classroomsAssist with the preparation of material; clean up after students, etc.Assist with the general supervision of the students including lunchtime, recess time, etc.On an as needed basis para-professional employees may be required to attend to a student whose needs include routine medical procedure or assistance with regular hygieneOther duties as assigned by the special education teacher or the building principalEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma and/or related experience. LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL AND REASONING SKILLS: Ability to speak and write effectively. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
