Job Description

Position Purpose/Summary Responsible for the aquatic facility operations including, but not limited too, supervising the life guarding team and bath attendants, maintaining the facility, planning and conducting in-service trainings, completing all required paperwork and for the safety of the patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies. Essential Functions * Ensuring the safety of the facility patrons and lifeguard team * Supervising the lifeguard team/bath attendants * Supervising the safety inspections, general care, and cleaning of the facility * Enforce all aquatic rules, policies, and regulations to ALL patrons * Make sure all paperwork is completed fully and correctly * Conduct regular in-service training sessions and document results * Ensure all users are signed in properly and have I.D.'s * Instruct, assign, supervise, and evaluate lifeguards in the performance of their duties - document everything Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Thorough knowledge and application of life guarding surveillance and rescue techniques * The ability to instruct, assign, supervise, and evaluate lifeguards in the performance of their duties * An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, polices, and procedures * Leadership and public relation skills * Decision making skills / ability to problem solve * Supervisory management skills * Ability to identify hazards and unsafe practices and to make suitable recommendations for minimizing or eliminating those hazards * Application of all forms and proper usage Education and Experience One year lifeguard experience preferred Current certification in the following is needed: * American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Training/First Aid * American Red Cross or American Heart CPR for the Professional Rescuer * American Red Cross Waterfront Life guarding, if working at 5-Mile Pond
