Title: Temp - Leadership - Medical Director of Correctional Health Dallas, TXDescription: WILL CONSIDER ALL REASONABLE WEEKLY/HOURLY BILL RATES IF YOUR CANDIDATE MEETS ALL REQUIREMENTSResponsible for supporting, facilitating and participating in clinical and administrative activities, which willenhance the attainment of Correctional Health clinical goals and objectives. Provides medical expertise,administrative, medical and nursing support as well as professional liaison functions which enhance highquality, timely and safe patient centered, patient valued services, best practice and compliance.Responsibilities1. Responsible for the direction and coordination of all medical services for Correctional HealthServices. Collaborates with Medical Director of Behavioral Health Services Correctional Healthto deliver effective and integrated care for the population.2. As assigned, provides quality management of patients accessing women s health and adulthealth. Uses written medical protocols efficiently, identifies quality care issues, and initiatesproblem solving and innovation. Modifies approach, communication and interaction to takeaccount of sensory impairments and specific needs of all customers, in particular older adults.3. Maintains a positive working relationship with Sherriff s Department, Parkland management,vendors, other hospitals, employees, patients, and patient s families ensuring effectivedepartmental operations and patient centered/patient valued health care services.4. Provides input into developing, monitoring and revising annual goals and objectives forCorrectional Services that support the mission and objectives of Parkland.5. Selects, trains, motivates, supervises, and evaluates provider/physician staff to ensure maximumutilization of individual and group capabilities, while providing optimal service to both internal andexternal customers. Serves as supervising physician/delegating prescriptive authority foradvanced practice providers. Acts as a consultant for nursing leadership. Provides and evaluatesmedical education and training for residents, students, and advanced practice providers, ensuringoptimal level of training which meets the teaching resident guidelines for treating, diagnosing, andproviding medical services. Ensures that assigned employees receive opportunities to further theirknowledge.6. Serves as a liaison between the jail physicians and medical directors of Parkland s CommunityOriented Primary Care (COPC) system, Homeless Outreach Medical Services (HOMES)program, specialty clinics, emergency room and inpatient services.7. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impactCorrectional Health. Develops effective internal controls that promote adherence to applicablestate/federal laws, and the program requirements of accreditation agencies and federal, state, andprivate health plans. Assists in the development and implementation of all medical relatedprocedures for clinical staff. Seeks advice and guidance as necessary to ensure properunderstanding.8. Assists with the development and implementation of the Correctional Health orientation program,health education program, and health promotion program.9. Oversees the work of the Associate Director of Performance Improvement, who coordinates theCorrectional Health quality management program. Identifies and analyzes the design of jobs, workprocesses, work flows, etc., for Correctional Health and implements appropriate changes toimprove effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency that support the overall goals of the departmentand Parkland.10. Assists with the coordination of physician recruitment and leads retention activities forCorrectional Health providers.11. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field of medicine byattending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professionalorganizations, and maintaining physician licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current workpractices.12. Models collaborative, respectful, excellent physician practice including providing an exceptionalpatient experience and making human connections including being mindful of patients, creatingan atmosphere of respect and courtesy, listening and responding to patient concerns andproviding clear explanations of care delivery and care planning, all reinforced throughstandardized approaches.13. Works across disciplines to form cohesive teams, and acts as a prominent, engaged teammember to achieve goals set by Parkland senior leadership.
