Primary Care Physician (Internal Medicine)Location: Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center – Augusta, GASchedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PMSetting: On-site Primary Care ClinicPosition OverviewThe Primary Care Physician will provide comprehensive medical care to eligible Veterans at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia. The physician will deliver preventive, acute, and chronic care while working within the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.This role focuses primarily on direct patient care (approximately 90%) with additional administrative and care coordination responsibilities.Key ResponsibilitiesClinical CareProvide comprehensive primary care services to Veterans in an outpatient setting.Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, COPD, heart failure, and other common conditions.Perform preventive care services, including:ImmunizationsCancer screeningsHealth maintenance evaluationsConduct mental health screenings for conditions such as depression, PTSD, and substance use disorders.Evaluate and treat urgent medical concerns.Care CoordinationServe as a clinical leader within the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT).Coordinate care with:SpecialistsSocial workersPharmacistsMental health providersCommunity care providersManage referrals, consults, and follow-up care.Veteran Health & EducationProvide patient education on:NutritionExerciseSmoking cessationAlcohol useUtilize VA electronic health record tools to monitor preventive care compliance.Documentation & ComplianceDocument all patient encounters in the VA electronic health record system.Complete evaluation and management coding for each patient encounter.Follow all VA policies related to patient safety, privacy, and quality of care.Additional DutiesParticipate in staff meetings and clinical discussions.Follow all VA clinical standards and national practice guidelines.Communicate test results and treatment plans to patients and referring providers.Required QualificationsMD or DO degreeBoard Certified or Board Eligible in Internal MedicineActive, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territoryAbility to obtain VA credentialing and privilegingDEA registrationNational Provider Identifier (NPI)Required Certifications / TrainingPhysicians must maintain current training including (or obtain during onboarding):BLS or ACLS (preferred)Infection controlPatient safety trainingHIPAA and privacy compliance trainingVA mandatory training modulesArrow ARC supports Veterans Health Administration facilities and offices across the U.S. with health care staffing and program support via the 10-year Integrated Critical Staffing Program (ICSP).
