JOB TITLE: Behavior Specialist (190 days) for the 2026-2027 School YearLOCATION: Central OfficeSTART DATE: July 27, 2026ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Provides consultation regarding student programs, including design and implementation of programs, to district and school-based personnel• Provides consultation to school-based Functional Behavior Support Teams.• Creates, researches, manages and refines district-wide forms needed to complete functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans• Supports staff through coaching and training for the purposes of completing functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans• Evaluates the fidelity and consistency of implementation of functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans and accommodations through observations, staff interviews, impact checks, and document reviews• Provides consultation, coaching and training to school-based personnel requesting support for school-wide, grade-level, and/or classroom challenges such as behavior management, social skills, de-escalation and classroom management• Provides consultation, coaching, training and a summary of findings for a referred student's behavior.• Analyzes personal, social, environmental conditions to better understand the variables that are influencing students' behavior• Conducts observations and assessments relevant to the design of positive interventions and supports for students.• Conducts comprehensive functional behavior assessments as needed.• Defines research-based interventions for students that are measurable.• Recommends and develops the goals of behavior change for students and the ways in which to effectively measure these changes• Evaluates the fidelity and consistency of implementation of recommended goals, techniques and strategies through observations, staff interviews, impact checks, and document reviews.• Participates as a member of the educational team to design and supervise implementation of classroom programs for students with significant emotional/behavioral needs (primarily served in SDD, OHI, and EBD).• Collaborates and plans with programmatic placement (LAUNCH) teachers to develop and implement integrated instructional approaches to support the communication, social, academic and behavioral needs of the students.• Collaborates, plans and provides professional development for personnel participating in a district-level behavior cohort.• Provides professional development to district-level and school-based personnel in areas such asself-regulation, behavior management and intervention, social skills, classroom management andpositive approaches to preventing and addressing students' challenging behaviors• Provides professional development to district-level and school-based personnel such asfunctional behavior assessments, behavior intervention plans, goal development, progressmonitoring and other behavior-related documentation and/or assessments• Trains and coaches school-based personnel in instructional strategies concerning braindevelopment, emotional regulation, executive functioning and social emotional deficitsconsistent with a diagnosis of Significant Developmental Delays and Emotional BehaviorDisorder.• Trains district-level and school-based personnel in non-violent crisis intervention techniquesincluding de-escalation strategies, district policy and Georgia code on restraint and seclusion,and tracks staff certification status.• Maintains behavior reporting data including copies of incident forms involving restraint andseclusion for the district.• Maintains appropriate certification as a trainer in non-violent crisis intervention methodologyincluding de-escalation strategies.• Maintains knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and board policy, and develops proceduresto meet changes in standards and requirements.• Participates as a member of the system level Exceptional Education Leadership team andassists in the development of department initiatives .• Assists with responding to and addressing exceptional education parental concerns,complaints and/or grievances.• Follows federal and state laws as well as Bartow County Board of Education policies.• Maintains prompt and regular attendance.• Performs other duties as assigned.EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION OR TRAINING: Master's degree from an accredited college/university. Must hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia teaching certificate in Special Education GENERAL CURRICULUM (P-12) CONSULTATIVE.SKILLS: Excellent written and oral skills to communicate with students, parents, and stakeholders. Regular sitting, standing, walking, stooping and/or kneeling. Lift, carry and pull up to 50 pounds.
