Hourly: *** - ***20% Perm Placement FeePoint of Care Lab TechnicianUnder supervision of Laboratory Manager, performs waivedlaboratory tests in a remote or mobile setting. Also responsible for monitoringquality of reagents and working condition of instruments. Essential Functions: Receives specimens from phlebotomists and couriers.May operate a delivery van to bring the mobile lab to anarea of high volume of STAT testing when applicable.Enters patient demographics and test orders into labinformation system.Checks the quality control of each test prior to runningand reporting patient results. Ensures QC is within appropriate limits andbrings problems to a supervisor/manager in real time.Performs lab testing in the areas of point of care whichmay include Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Molecular and Coagulation.Data entry of test results.Confirms abnormal results prior to releasing and bring any rare and improbable test results to the attention of a supervisor/manager.Performs blood collection to include venipuncture andcapillary specimens.Processes specimens and logs requisitions as needed.Close monitoring of STAT board to ensure STAT TAT goal isobtained consistently.Assists in maintaining an adequate inventory of suppliesand ensures compliance with state requirements for documentation of lot numberswith quality control and specimen records.Troubleshoots problems (client, instrument, computer) asneeded.Performs maintenance on the automated instrumentation asneeded.Records the quality control and maintains the QC recordson all assays performed.Performs other tasks and procedures that are commensuratewith education, training and abilities.Responsible for all clerical functions associated withspecimen integrity, testing, identification and reporting of departmenttesting.Follows all safety protocols as outlined in safety manual.Physical Requirements and Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here arerepresentative of those an employee encounters while performing the essentialfunctions of this job.
