Salary: $17.00 HourlyLocation : Lake Forest, ILJob Type: TemporaryDepartment: Recreation DepartmentOpening Date: 03/20/2026 Description The City of Lake Forest is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Preschool Aide to join the team at Kinderhaven Preschool Academy, part of the Lake Forest Parks & Recreation Department. This role is ideal for a motivated adult who is passionate about early childhood education and creating a safe, nurturing learning environment for preschool-aged children.This is a part-time assistant teacher position and hours vary depending on the class schedule. Our program offers multiple classes that meet on different days and times throughout the week. Some teachers may have the opportunity to work in more than one class depending on availability. Below are the current classes and hours we are looking to fill:Red ClassMonday - Thursday: 12:00PM - 4:00PMFriday: 12:30PM - 2:30PM (Staff Meeting)Blue ClassMonday, Wednesday & Friday: 8:30AM - 12:00PMFriday: 12:30PM - 2:30PM (Staff Meeting)Green ClassTuesday & Thursday: 8:30AM - 1:00PMFriday: 12:30PM - 2:30PM (Staff Meeting)Candidates may apply for one class or multiple classes depending on their availability. Examples of Duties Assist with daily classroom setup and takedownMaintain cleanliness through regular sanitization of high-touch surfaces and shared suppliesSupervise children to ensure safety and enforce classroom rules and proceduresSupport instructors in implementing class curriculumFoster a friendly, organized, and engaging classroom atmosphereCommunicate effectively and professionally with parents and staffServe as a positive role model and active team member Qualifications Prior experience working with children, preferably preschool-agedBasic understanding of child development and age-appropriate practicesTeam-oriented with strong leadership and independent work skillsExcellent communication and customer service abilitiesUnderstanding of the Reggio Emilia approach is a plusWillingness to work additional hours as neededCommitment to continuing education and professional growthMust be able to lift up to 50 lbs.High School Diploma or GED requiredMust pass a DCFS background checkKnowledge of sound recreation and education philosophy Supplemental Information The City of Lake Forest is an equal opportunity employer.
