Job Title

Job Summary: Performance of professional functions generally associated with the practice of pharmacy in the institutional setting. Duties/Responsibilities: * Compounding and preparing ordered pharmaceutical preparations * Contacting and conferring physicians if there are any questions or irregularities regarding medication orders * Preparing TPN solutions and Monitoring TPN Patients as required * Mixing of irrigating solutions and intravenous additive solutions as required using aseptic technique with the laminar air flow hood or CAL, or CACI for hazardous medications * Shows competencies in aseptic technique, garbing and gowning, and didactic training in IV and HD preparation * Consulting with physician and nursing staff concerning availability, form, side effects and incompatibilities of currently available drugs * Responsible for the collection of Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement data * Interprets prescription orders and contacts provider or insurer as indicated * Performs medication counseling for patients as requested * Supervises activities and checks work of pharmacy technicians * Performs other duties as assigned Required Skills/Abilities: * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. * Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. * Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. * Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Education and Experience: * Bachelors Degree or Doctorate of Pharmacy, must meet state requirements for Pharmacist and registered by the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy * Minimum of one year experience in hospital Pharmacy preferred
