Job Description

The Center for Disabilities and Development is looking to hire for a Clinical Psychologist. This position performs psychological/neuropsychological assessment and treatment with infants, children and young adults in a tertiary-level, clinical outpatient setting. This position works closely with other members of a multi-disciplinary, healthcare team and allows for additional opportunities to participate in group lead interventions and individual therapy. This position can allow for either part-time or full-time. * Prepares for individual patient/family contact. * Reviews relevant records and reports and consults with appropriate clinical team members as necessary. * Prepares equipment/materials/space prepared for session. * Performs psychological/neuropsychological assessment and/or treatment with children and/or young adults in a tertiary-level, clinical outpatient setting. * Maintains skills/competency related to testing procedures and protocols. * Selects and properly administers appropriate interview protocols to meet the patients age, abilities, and needs from the evaluation. * Conducts interviews in a sensitive, family-centered manner. * Scores tests and interprets test results appropriately; communicates findings with patients and family, schools and community providers. * Diagnoses and treats/develops treatment plans for individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities with other members of an inter-disciplinary health-care team. * Develops recommendations and treatment plans consistent with patient and family goals, assessment findings, and team consensus. * Completes patient report and billing documentation according to department and Iowa Health Care guidelines and timelines. * Submits billing documentation to support each billed procedure, following department, CDD and UI Healthcare policies. * Submits record of telephone contacts and other unscheduled visits into electronic patient record. * Participates in the instruction and supervision of trainees. * Provides learning experiences and/or instruction to graduate and doctoral-level trainees, as assigned. * Plans, organizes and provides structured learning experiences for assigned health care students. * Assists students in developing knowledge, skills and abilities. * Provides written and oral feedback and assessment to student, practicum instructor, training director, etc. * Participates in classroom/lab teaching when requested. * Communicates and provides services in a manner that respects the family's' role as primary caregiver. Works to meet the individualized needs and goals of the patient and family. * Demonstrates accountability for quality patient care and resource management. * Demonstrates commitment to the CDD mission, vision, performance standards, and strategic intents. * Assures compliance to the standards of regulatory bodies (i.e JCAHO and other regulatory bodies). * Participates in the ongoing implementation of current regulatory standards in order to meet state and national agency accreditation. * Maintains required mandatory skills and certifications. * Assumes responsibility for promoting and maintaining a safe patient care and work environment. * Develops and confirms an understanding of the subject matter required to complete the assigned tasks. * Completes the assigned tasks within established timelines and accuracy standards. * Reporting problems/delays to appropriate authorities and seeks guidance to rectify the issues. * Performs other duties as assigned. SEIU Pay Plan | University Human Resources - The University of Iowa (uiowa.edu) Required Qualifications: * A Doctoral degree in Psychology is required. * Reasonable experience (1-3 years) in Clinical Child Psychology, including skill and experience in psychological/neuropsychological assessment and working with infants, preschool-aged children, young children and/or young adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities. * State of Iowa Psychology license, or; Provisional License of Psychology issued from the Iowa Board of Psychology at the time of hire and ability to attain licensure within first nine months of employment is required. * Iowa Health Service Provider Certification, or certification within 12 months of hire. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Competency in computer software applications. Desired Qualifications: * Knowledge of community based disability services. * Experience working in a healthcare environment and as a member of an interdisciplinary team. * Experience in applied behavior analysis. * Experience working with electronic medical records. * Knowledge of University of Iowa policies and procedures. * Experience utilizing evidenced based interventions. Highly Desirable Qualifications: * Assessment and/or treatment of possible Autism Spectrum Disorder; Using such materials as the ADOS-2, ADI-R, and/or other tools. * Assessment and/or treatment neurodevelopmental disabilities for children between ages 0-5 years; Knowledge of using materials, such as the Bayley Scales of Infant Development or Mullen Scales of Early Learning.
