Job Type Full-time, ContractDescriptionReports to: Dean of StudentsFLSA Status: Professional/Exempt, 11 Months ( full-time )PurposeThe School Nurse is responsible for promoting and maintaining the health and well-being of students, faculty, and staff. This role includes providing direct medical care, managing the Health Station, maintaining accurate health records, and ensuring compliance with all applicable health regulations. The School Nurse serves as a key resource for health-related issues on campus and supports both day and boarding students.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide first aid care and administer medications as neededRespond to all on-campus medical emergencies involving students, faculty, and staffCommunicate with parents/guardians following medical incidentsComplete and maintain injury/accident reports and health recordsMaintain and update student health information, including vaccination records and emergency contactsManage and operate the Health Station, ensuring it is properly stocked and organizedMaintain emergency equipment, including AEDs and response bagsMonitor and comply with county and public health regulationsNotify families and staff of communicable illnesses and health updatesInform faculty of students with significant medical conditions or allergiesCoordinate health-related communications and notices to the school communitySupport boarding students by conducting daily health checks, coordinating medical appointments, and assisting with insurance claimsProvide on-call support for boarding-related medical concerns during evenings and weekendsAdditional DutiesAssist with transportation of injured or ill students when neededPerform health screenings and testing as requiredCarry out other duties as assigned by Administration or the Dean of StudentsRequirementsQualificationsBachelor's Degree in Nursing requiredMinimum of two (2) years of clinical experience preferredKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong organizational and record-keeping skillsAbility to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environmentAbility to remain calm and effective under pressureStrong interpersonal and communication skills with students, parents, staff, and external agenciesCommitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and teamworkProficiency with basic technology and data systemsPhysical RequirementsAbility to safely lift up to 20+ lbs.Ability to operate relevant office equipment.Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, and/or squat for prolonged periods of time.Work outside occasionally, over multiple terrains, and in varying weather conditions, as needed.Acknowledgement of Monte Vista's Christian DistinctivesEmployee acknowledges that he/she has been informed of and understands MVC's Christian distinctives, vision, and mission as a California-based religious corporation.
