Contract Type: Travel Unit: OR Surg Tech*skills checklist required in submission packet (1) Cost Center: 7420 Shift: 2 Days-0645 -GWW40 4 10's Rate $35 per hour Start: ASAP Wed, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 13 weeks Comments: Holiday work call rotation required *Must have ACLS, BLS, NIHSS and current Tech Certification *Must have 2 years relevant OR experience Ortho and Trauma exp required( ortho, neuro, robotic, and trauma) *Must have 1 year travel experience EEO is the Law: operating room (OR) surgical technologist, also known as an operating room technician (OR Tech), prepares the operating room, equipment, and patients for surgery, maintains a sterile environment, and assists the surgical team during operations by providing instruments and supplies. Key duties include setting up surgical fields, passing instruments, counting sponges and instruments to prevent foreign objects, managing specimens, and ensuring patient and equipment safety. Key Responsibilities Pre-Surgery Preparation: Set up the operating room by arranging instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies. Ensure all equipment is in proper working order. Prepare the patient for surgery, which may include washing and disinfecting incision sites. During Surgery: Maintain the sterile field to prevent infection. Anticipate the surgeon's needs and pass instruments, sterile supplies, and medications. Count surgical instruments, sponges, and sharps to confirm none are left inside the patient. Handle and care for specimens taken during the procedure. Assist with tasks like applying dressings and assisting in closing wounds. Post-Surgery & Administrative Tasks: Assist with the patient's transfer to the recovery room. Clean and restock the operating room after each procedure. Maintain accurate records, including supply usage and patient information. Work Environment & Skills Environment: Work in hospital operating rooms, outpatient centers, and physicians' offices, often standing for long periods under bright lights in sterile surgical gear. Skills: Requires strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, good communication and teamwork skills, and the ability to work well under pressure. Essential Knowledge: A solid understanding of human anatomy, sterile techniques, and surgical procedures is crucial for success in the role.
