Job Description

A leadership opportunity is available for a Pharmacist In Charge (PIC) to lead operations at a brand-new long-term care (LTC) pharmacy site in Roanoke, VA. This direct hire role requires a hands-on leader who is ready to step into a start-up environment with strong operational expertise and a commitment to regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of LTC pharmacy experience, prior leadership exposure, and hold a current Virginia pharmacist license. Location: Roanoke, VA (Candidates from other areas of Virginia and North Carolina encouraged to apply as local job postings are limited) Schedule: Site operates 24/7 with multiple shifts (1st shift 7am-3pm, 2nd shift 3pm-11pm; 3rd shift hours pending) Key Responsibilities: Oversee all administrative pharmacy operations, including adherence to SOPs, laws, regulations, and policies Maintain visibility on the pharmacy floor and actively participate in staffing and operational tasks Implement and monitor Quality Assurance programs and pharmacy policies Review and verify physician prescriptions for safety and legal compliance Manage inventory control, including proper stocking, labeling, and prevention of product deterioration Ensure a safe and compliant supply of medications to client facilities under general supervision Desired Experience & Qualifications: Minimum 5+ years of LTC pharmacy experience with demonstrated operational knowledge Prior leadership or PIC experience strongly preferred Current Virginia pharmacist license required at the time of hire Proficient in Frameworks, DocuTrack, and Microsoft Office suite Strong organizational skills with the ability to motivate and communicate effectively within a team Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and customer-focused approach Degree in Pharmacy or Pharmacology Benefits: Full-time direct hire role with a well-established operational team (~40 staff including 9 pharmacists and 30 technicians) Opportunity to lead a new pharmacy start-up in a supportive clinical environment This position is ideal for an LTC pharmacist ready to advance their career by taking on a leadership role within a growing pharmacy operation.
