The Medical Records Specialist is responsible for maintaining patients' health records, ensuring their information is transferred and stored properly. This role performs a variety of tasks including collecting patient information, issuing medical files, filing records, and processing patient requests. Why Join EmergeOrtho? RequirementsQualifications and Experience High school diploma or equivalent Minimum two years of customer service experience, preferably in a medical office setting Comfortable using multiple technology-based communication systems effectively and simultaneously Excellent verbal and written communication skills Advanced organization skills Attention to detail to ensure accuracy Familiarity with medical terminology Good time management skills Excellent problem-solving skills Responsibilities include but are not limited to, the following Handle phone calls regarding medical record documentation Pull corresponding medical charts and distribute them to appropriate personnel as required Pull, distribute, and import incoming faxes along with relevant chart documentation Locate and distribute medical record documentation for staff, physicians, and PA/NPs Sort and distribute incoming mail appropriately Scan documentation into patient's medical record, including dictation, lab work, correspondence from physicians, etc. Coordinate scanning and boxing of medical records with the outsourced record retention service Purge and process scanned paper medical charts to the outsourced retention service, per policy Performs other duties as required and assigned by Manager, including schedule changes and travel to office locations as assignedOther Follows all applicable department and practice policies and procedures Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA privacy and confidentiality guidelines established by the practice Maintains detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job function Performs other duties as required and assigned by Manager, including schedule changes and travel to office locations as assigned From the mountains to the coast, EmergeOrtho is North Carolina's premier provider, recognized for offering world-class, comprehensive, and compassionate care serving patients with 60 locations in 28 counties.
