Job Description

Rural Health Group is seeking a Medical Biller for a full-time position in our Billing department. The position will be located at our Finance office in Roanoke Rapids, NC. Certified Professional Coder certification is preferred, but not required. If certified, you will be required to provide a copy of the certification on your application. Job duties and responsibilities include:Processes claims dailyReviews claims for errors, corrects claims before transmission and transmits clean claimsAggressively investigates, corrects and follows claim denialsCommunicates to staff opportunities to reduce denials and enhance revenueIdentifies, reports and resolves reimbursement issuesCommunicates reimbursement issues to Billing Manager and/or Director of RevenueHandles incoming telephone calls and responds to requests for information from patients and outside sourcesPerforms other duties as assignedSuccessful candidate must demonstrate the Rural Health Group Core Competencies, which include:Good JudgmentCommunication/Customer Service/TeamworkPassionHonestyResponsibilityJob-Specific Skill Set - including knowledge, skills, and ability to fulfill the responsibilities of a Medical BillerREQUIREMENTSHigh school diploma or GED; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferredAt least 1 year's experience working in a healthcare facility, preferably in Medical Coding/ReimbursementCertified Professional Coder preferred, but not requiredAbility to maintain confidentiality at all timesReliable attendanceExcellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and work efficiently in a potentially stressful environmentAbility to apply good judgment while carrying out responsibilitiesAbility to work independently and on a team; provide excellent internal and external customer service Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written formatAbility to establish and maintain positive, effective, professional relationships with patients, providers, coworkers, superiors, payers, etc.Possess knowledge of modern office equipment and Microsoft Office software programs (Word, Excel, Outlook), computer skills (including the ability to type)Experience with electronic health record/practice management system(s); must be able to quickly learn to use eClinicalWorks EHRThe physical/mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
