Job Description

Primary Purpose Provide instruction to special education students identified with dyslexia in alignment with the required components of the Texas Dyslexia Handbook, delivering systematic, explicit, and evidence-based reading interventions with fidelity. Support the identification, evaluation, and ARD/IEP process by collaborating with staff, developing individualized plans and goals, and using data to monitor progress and inform instruction. Qualifications Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for level assigned Masters Degree in education or related field preferred Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) or specialized training in dyslexia SPED EC-12 required ESL certification preferred Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of dyslexia and reading process Trained in instructional strategies which utilize individualized, intensive, multisensory, phonetic methods (Take Flight, Reading by Design or other Orton Gillingham based programs) Knowledge of student progress monitoring methods Ability to instruct students and manage behavior Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills Knowledge of Special Education processes Knowledge of how to analyze and interpret assessment results Benefits As an full-time employee of Rockwall Independent School District: * The District pays $361.00 towards health insurance premium for eligible employees through Teacher Retirement System (TRS). * RISD pays the premium for a $20,000 term life insurance policy with Standard. * The District offers a Section 125 Cafeteria Plan.
