Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit The Plant and Pollinator Center (PPC) is a research, teaching, and community outreach facility located at the Gateway Research Park North Campus in Browns Summit, North Carolina. The PPC is a center for collaborative research across UNCG departments and with other institutions. Basic and applied research conducted at the PPC addresses global issues of food security, facilitates the growth of North Carolina's agricultural economy, and supports efforts to protect natural environments, especially those that serve as pollinator habitat. The research, innovation, education, and conservation work conducted at the PPC benefit ecologically and economically important plants and pollinators on a local, regional, statewide and global scale. Position Summary Lab and Field Technician will perform honey bee field and lab research at the University of North Carolina Greensboro in Greensboro, North Carolina. The lab and field technician will work independently with guidance from Dr. Kaira Wagoner and Dr. Arjun Khadka at the UNCG Plant and Pollinator Center, on the UNCG campus and at affiliated apiaries. Minimum Qualifications * Experience in conducting experiments using field and laboratory procedures. * Data analysis and synthesis skills. * Personal transportation to and from work sites in and around Greensboro is required. Preferred Qualifications * Experience with honey bee handling, behavioral ecology, microbiology, and/or molecular techniques is preferred.
