The Director of Patient and Caregiver Safety coordinates, leads, and supports system-wide activities to improve patient and caregiver safety across INTEGRIS hospitals and the INTEGRIS Medical Group. This role provides strategic and operational leadership to advance a culture of safety, reduce harm, and integrate safety principles into daily clinical and operational practice. The Director leads organizational initiatives to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies. Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals and applicable caregiver safety standards based on the scope and level of organizational impact required by this position. The Director of Patient and Caregiver Safety responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: * Serves as the system champion for high reliability, acting as the accountable executive to enhance and sustain a culture of patient and caregiver safety across hospitals and the medical groups. * Provides system-level oversight of patient and caregiver safety programs, ensuring alignment across acute care and medical groups. * Identifies safety trends, conducts gap analyses, and drives improvement initiatives related to patient harm events, caregiver injuries, workplace safety risks, and near-miss reporting. * Develops and directs patient and caregiver safety education and training curricula, including just culture, event reporting, human factors, and high-reliability behaviors. * Participates in patient safety efforts with and for the medical staff and serves as the Patient Safety Officer for INTEGRIS, collaborating closely with medical group leadership. * Provides strategic leadership and guidance for safety-related process and outcome measures, including serious safety events, caregiver injury rates, and safety culture performance. * Guides the development of enterprise performance metrics to ensure achievement of patient and caregiver safety standards. * Develops patient and caregiver safety standards and oversees monitoring, analysis, and reporting of adherence and outcomes. * Collaborates with hospital and medical group leadership teams to identify and mitigate clinical, operational, and workplace safety risks. * Supports organizational strategic initiatives to ensure compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, and other applicable regulatory and accrediting bodies. * Cultivates and maintains professional relationships with operational leaders, physicians, caregivers, patients, and external partners to advance safety performance. * Leads system learning from safety events through root cause analyses, action plan development, and sustained improvement efforts. * Completes employee performance appraisals; coaches, develops, and mentors staff; and addresses performance concerns in alignment with organizational values. * Develops and manages departmental budgets, ensuring fiscal accountability and achievement of financial goals while supporting safety priorities. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE: * Two (2) years of direct clinical patient care experience. EDUCATION: * Bachelor's degree in nursing or a healthcare-related field. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE: * Minimum of five (5) years of progressive management responsibility in an acute care or integrated healthcare system, with at least two (2) years leading a patient safety and/or caregiver safety program. EDUCATION: * Master's degree in nursing or a healthcare-related field.
