A community hospital in Barstow, CA, seeks a Staff Pharmacist for a contract position to support their pharmacy team. This facility is a 60-bed hospital located in a desert region halfway between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, offering a unique work environment. The assignment is set to begin as soon as possible and will last approximately 13 weeks. Schedule and Work Environment: Four 10-hour day shifts per week Minimal on-call duties due to after-hours remote order processing Utilizes MedHost EMR, Sentri 7 Clinical Surveillance software, and Pyxis ADC systems Responsibilities: Dispense medications accurately and safely according to hospital policies and regulatory standards Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient care Use clinical surveillance tools to monitor patient drug therapy and prevent adverse events Manage medication distribution through automated dispensing cabinets Participate in minimal on-call work to support pharmacy services after hours Qualifications and Desired Experience: Valid California pharmacist license is required Previous hospital pharmacy experience preferred Familiarity with MedHost EMR, Sentri 7, and Pyxis ADCs is advantageous Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety This 13-week contract provides an opportunity to gain hospital experience in a supportive setting while living in a scenic desert community.
