Position Summary University of New Mexico College of Education and Human Sciences Department of Health, Exercise & Sport Sciences Health Education Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Position The University of New Mexico, College of Education and Human Sciences, Department of Health, Exercise & Sport Sciences, invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Health Education, beginning August 2026. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to teach a variety of community health education-level courses in community health education potentially including the areas of Management of Health Promotion Programs; Advanced Community Health Education Research; Community Health Education Program Planning, Development & Evaluation; Measurement & Evaluation in Health Promotion; and Epidemiology; advise master's-level graduate students specializing in community health education; and meet the needs for service in the department, college, university, and community. The candidate is expected to maintain an active research agenda including publishing in peer-reviewed journals and submitting grant applications for external funding. All areas of health education and community health research are welcome including (but not limited to) behavioral health interventions, community-based participatory research, and epidemiology across all disease prevention and treatment clinical profiles. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: 1) Doctorate in Community Health Education, Public Health, or closely related field from an accredited institution by start date. Preferred Qualifications: 1) Experience teaching college or university-level courses in health education/public health programs or related field. 2) Experience teaching undergraduate/graduate online/F2F courses specifically related to: Management of Health Promotion Programs; Community Health Education Program Planning, Development & Evaluation; Measurement & Evaluation in Health Promotion; and Epidemiology. 3) Experience in ability to conduct, publish, and present original research in related areas of health education/public health or related field (e.g. peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations). 4) Active and ongoing research activity that can be conducted at UNM in COEHS and potential to secure external funding to support program of research. 5) Experience with administrative, program coordination, leadership skills (i.e. Field Experience, Master's Thesis, etc.) 6) Active involvement in field (i.e. prior related employment, professional organization membership, etc.) 7) A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
