Our Division of Obstetric Anesthesiology is one of the nation's busiest and leading sites, overseeing deliveries at both Parkland Hospital and Clements University Hospital. Parkland Hospital is among the nation's highest-volume obstetric centers, with approximately 13,000 deliveries annually and a 32% cesarean section rate; it serves as a safety net hospital caring for some of the highest-risk pregnancies in Texas. William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital manages approximately 2,000 complex deliveries annually, many involving patients with significant medical comorbidities. The Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Division Chief of Obstetric Anesthesiology to lead our efforts in treatment and care of the obstetric patient population. This individual will provide strategic, clinical, and academic leadership for UT Southwestern's obstetric anesthesia services. This individual will oversee high-volume, high-acuity clinical operations, support faculty and trainee development. The Division Chief will lead our partnership with Obstetrics & Gynecology leadership across both hospitals as well as multidisciplinary collaboration in clinical, research, and educational missions. The Division provides dedicated 24/7 in-house obstetric anesthesia coverage at both facilities and plays a central role in resident and fellow education. Position Highlights * Provide strategic, clinical, and academic leadership for the Division of Obstetric Anesthesiology across two major academic hospitals and in alignment with departmental and institutional priorities * Oversee high-volume, high-acuity obstetric anesthesia services, including 24/7 coverage, staffing models, and standardized clinical pathway * Ensure excellence in patient safety, quality, efficiency, and patient-centered care across all practice sites * Serve as the Division and Department representative at obstetric operational meetings at both clinical sites and collaborate closely with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and institutional leadership * Lead faculty recruitment, development, evaluation, and performance management, including oversight of Annual Professional Reviews. * Foster a culture of scholarly inquiry, quality improvement, and innovation, supporting clinical research and national academic engagement * Direct faculty staffing models, scheduling, and resource utilization * Maintain an active clinical practice while balancing significant leadership and academic responsibilities * Lead and mentor faculty, residents, fellows, CRNAs, and advanced practice providers * Support and expand resident and fellowship education, including oversight of two ACGME-accredited OB Anesthesia fellowship position * Utilize a MOCA-certified simulation center for multidisciplinary and team-based training * Foster and support clinical and translational research within obstetric anesthesiology IDEAL EXPERIENCE * Academic record consistent with the rank of Associate Professor or higher. * Expertise in obstetric anesthesia, including high-risk parturients with complex medical, cardiac and obstetric comorbidities * Accomplished obstetric anesthesiologist with a strong record of high-quality clinical outcomes and commitment to patient-centered care * Effective leader who fosters an environment of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement within an academic center, while emphasizing mentorship, education, and multidisciplinary collaboration * Comfortable working within the labor and delivery structure, partnering with clinical and administrative leaders to support division growth * Opportunity to shape and direct the future of Obstetric Anesthesiology through strategic planning, faculty recruitment, research, quality improvement, clinical and scholarly activities * M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited institution * Completion of an ACGME-accredited Anesthesiology residency * Fellowship training in Obstetric Anesthesiology * Board-Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology * Eligible for Texas medical licensure * Strong commitment to clinical excellence, education, research, and multidisciplinary collaboration Contact: Dustin Floyd.
