About this roleResponsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive philanthropy strategy to drive revenue growth and strengthen donor engagement. Oversees annual, planned, and alumni giving; corporate and foundation relations; and donor communications to ensure a unified, donor-focused approach aligned with the College's mission and fundraising goals. Builds a culture of philanthropy, cultivates key relationships, and directs a high-performing team to expand participation, grow the donor base, and secure major gifts.What a day of an Associate Vice President, Philanthropy looks like:Integrates fundraising initiatives across digital, direct mail, stewardship, and event channels to ensure coordinated donor engagement.Develops and evaluates metrics to monitor philanthropic performance and drive continuous improvement. Utilizes data and analytics to guide decision-making, track donor behaviors, and strengthen the donor pipeline.Manages a portfolio of leadership-level donors, overseeing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts.Leads the strategic development, implementation, and growth of a comprehensive Planned Giving program, including bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder/unitrusts, beneficiary designations, and complex blended gifts.Advances donor engagement strategies and events to strengthen relationships with individuals, corporations, alumni, foundations, and community partners.Provides leadership, coaching, and professional development to staff. Leads and evaluates the work of direct and indirect reports to ensure effective performance.Establishes short- and long-term goals, priorities, and performance standards for philanthropic initiatives. Fosters a collaborative, inclusive, high-performing team culture that supports innovation, creativity, and results.Builds and executes a data-driven annual giving program that increases donor acquisition, retention, and pipeline development through segmented appeals, digital campaigns, leadership annual gifts, and recurring giving initiatives.Guides corporate and foundation fundraising strategy, including proposal development, partnership cultivation, grant alignment, and stewardship reporting.Ensures compliance with gift acceptance policies, IRS regulations, CASE standards, and College Foundation procedures.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.We'd love to hear from you if you have the following:Education and Experience:Bachelor's degreeEight years of related fundraising experienceExperience in higher education or a non-profit organizationKnowledge of:Microsoft Office Professional or similar applicationCustomer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, fundraising databases, and digital engagement platformsSkilled in: Motivating employees to apply the effort necessary to attain organizational and departmental goalsExcellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills including policy and creative writing, group presentation, and individual coaching and counseling skillsStrategic thinking including effective planning, setting goals, monitoring progress, and making appropriate adjustments to plans based on circumstances and contextAbility to:Maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentialityInteract in a positive manner with diverse populations and varying education levels of students, faculty, staff, and the publicEffectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations, and take responsibility for a high level of serviceLicenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:Regular physical attendance requiredValid Florida driver's licenseSome periods throughout the year will require extended work hours including nights, weekends, and college closuresPreferred, but not a must:Education and Experience:Master's degreeExperience with an advancement or foundation office within higher educationExperience with annual, planned, and alumni campaign planningKnowledge of:Donor pipeline developmentIntegrated fundraising modelsSouth Florida's philanthropic landscape and community networksWork Environment and Physical Demand:Reach and grasp objectsStoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawlStand for extended periods of timeUse of video display terminalUse of manual dexterity and fine motor skillsCommunicate information orally and in writingReceive and understand information through oral and written communicationProofread and check documents for accuracyOperate motor vehicleWork a fluctuating work scheduleThis job description is intended to be generic in nature and describe the essential functions of the job.
