The evaluation service links on the following site are provided by South Texas College for your convenience but are not affiliated with South Texas College: NACES MembersJob DescriptionDepartment: Emergency Medical ServicesGeneral Statement of JobThe Lab Assistant - Emergency Medical Services conducts the competency-based practical skills labs for the Emergency Medical Services Program, a department of the Division of Nursing and Allied Health.Specific Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:Assists in coordination and implementation of the practical skills competency-training program for selected EMS courses.Maintains proper inventory and/or operation of supplies and equipment utilized for laboratory/classroom instruction.Assists faculty with selected activities/supervision of students in classroom/clinical settings.Provides direct supervision of National Registry Skills exam setup and breakdown.Performs other duties as assignedRequired Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED required; College Certificate or 30 college hours in Emergency Medical Services, preferred.Knowledge in subject area preferred: demonstrated mastery of coursework in Emergency Medical Services or related science courses either in high school or college, earning at least a "C" (preferably an "A").Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesExcellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, the Windows environment, and internet research skills.Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete multiple tasks with attention to detail, within stated deadlines.Ability to work independently as well as a team player within department and with others.Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.Demonstrated commitment to achieving the vision and mission of South Texas College.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to speak effectively before groups of students or employees of organization.Checks, Certificates, Licenses, and RegistrationsAll applicants are subject to a criminal background check under South Texas College policy.Must have a valid Texas driver's license and proof of liability insurance.Texas Department of State Health Services EMS certification required.National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians certification preferred.Physical RequirementsExerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
