The DeKalb County Health Department is seeking a part-time (22.5 hours per week) Environmental Health Practitioner (EHP). The position will function as a member of the Health Protection Team under the direction of the Health Protection Director. Candidates must have excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with internal and external customers in a professional manner.ResponsibilitiesPerforms food sanitation inspections.Monitors and enforces standards of public health protection to help prevent and control the spread of communicable disease.Prepares reports, compiles data and maintains records.Performs well and septic inspections, nuisance complaint inspections, inspections of tanning and body art facilities and other Environmental Health duties as assigned.RequirementsBachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health or related field with at least 30 semester hours of Basic Sciences (with at least 3 hours in each of the following areas: physical sciences, chemical sciences, biological sciences and math).LEHP or LEHP in Training preferred.Ability to work weekend and evening hours as needed.Benefits PackageStarting salary rangeLicensed Environmental Health Practitioner (LEHP): $30.16 an hourEnvironmental Health Practitioner (EHP): $25.78 an hourEligible for paid time off and holiday pay based on hours worked.Eligible for Public Student Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).This is an AFSCME Bargaining Unit position.Schedule:Day ShiftMonday-FridayWeekend and evening hours as needed.Work Location: In PersonI understand that employment may be conditioned upon successfully passing a background check.
