Position Title- Sub Bus Aide REPORTS TO: The Bus Aide is directly responsible to the Transportation Coordinator. POSITION GOAL: To assist in providing safe transportation for all students. GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: ? To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, safety manuals, etc. and to generate routine reports and correspondence pertinent to the essential job duties. ? Ability to communicate and to demonstrate interpersonal skills effectively in dealing with students, staff, parents, community members, and educational agencies as related to performance of the duties of the position. ? Ability to perform mathematical operations and to apply mechanical skills and technical skills to accomplish the essential duties of the position. ? Ability to interpret and to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. ? Ability to perform routine tasks cooperatively and to adjust to interruptions, variables, or changes in standardized situations. SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Ability to use good judgment for the safety of the children. 2. Successful demonstrated experience in use of communication skills, in maintaining good student conduct and in showing concern for student welfare. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assists the driver in maintaining good student conduct on the bus. 2. Assists young or disabled students in getting on and off the bus. 3. Reports behavior problems on the proper form to the student's principal. 4. Fastens children in seat belts and wheelchair brackets. 5. Assures that students get on and off the bus in an orderly fashion. 6. Relates to children in a way that will make their bus ride enjoyable. 7. Performs other related duties as may be assigned or necessary for an efficient operation.
