With a nationwide footprint and opportunities for growth across multiple locations and disciplines, SPL is a place where you can build a career while making a real-world impact.We're searching for a detail-oriented, entry-level Lab Technician (Sample Receiving) to join our 2nd shift laboratory team in Reading, PA.In this role, you'll focus on receiving, logging, labeling, and organizing samples in a fast-paced lab environment. You'll serve as the first point of contact for incoming samples, ensuring they are accurately logged, properly handled, and efficiently distributed to support testing and compliance efforts.This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in a professional laboratory environment-training is provided, and no prior lab experience is required.What You'll DoReceive samples from clients, couriers, and internal field teams Inspect and verify sample condition, labeling, and documentation to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements Accurately log sample information and testing requirements into internal systems (LIMS) Label, organize, and distribute samples to appropriate laboratory departments in a timely manner Maintain organized, secure, and compliant sample storage areas, including proper tracking and disposal Prepare sample kits and assist with outbound shipments as needed Support general lab operations, including inventory management and supply coordination Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment Follow all safety protocols and standard operating procedures to ensure accuracy and qualityPerform other duties as assignedRequirementsWhat We're Looking ForHigh School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Science or a related field preferredDemonstrated experience in administrative, clerical, or laboratory support roles Prior experience working in a lab or handling samples is a plus, but not requiredBasic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and ability to learn new systems (data entry, tracking tools) What You'll Need to SucceedStrong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to follow structured processes and maintain accuracy in repetitive tasks Comfortable working on your feet and staying active throughout the shift Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced process-driven environmentReliable, punctual, and able to consistently meet expectationsWhat We OfferCompetitive compensationEntry-level opportunity with paid training providedMedical, dental, and vision coverage401(k) with company matchEmployer-paid life, AD&D, and disability insurancePaid time off, sick leave, and paid holidaysPaid parental leaveEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Tuition reimbursement and professional development supportWork ScheduleFull-time, onsite position 2nd shift schedule Monday - Friday from 2 PM to 10:30 PM EST Flexibility to work beyond standard hours, including evenings or weekends, as operational needs requireOur Commitment to Diversity & InclusionAt SPL, we believe that a diverse team is a strong team.
