VDC Department LeadLocated: Los Alamitos, CAPay: $100k-$130k basePosition OverviewLead and grow the Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) department to deliver coordinated, constructible, and efficient building information models and workflows. Own the VDC/BIM strategy, standards, and project delivery for electrical and multidisciplinary projects, ensuring models support construction, fabrication, and installation while driving innovation, quality, and team development.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership and day-to-day management for the VDC department, including hiring, mentoring, performance management, and workload allocation.Develop, maintain, and enforce company VDC/BIM standards, templates, and best practices to ensure consistency and model quality across projects.Collaborate with project managers, engineers, trades (especially electrical), and field teams to integrate VDC processes into project workflows and schedules.Oversee creation, coordination, and QA/QC of Revit and AutoCAD MEP models, ensuring accurate representation of electrical and other building systems.Lead clash detection and coordination using Navisworks Manage and other tools; manage issue resolution and monitor coordination progress throughout design and construction.Implement and manage digital review workflows using Bluebeam, BIM 360, or equivalent platforms to streamline markups, RFIs, and as-built documentation.Establish and execute BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), LOD requirements, and model delivery schedules for projects; ensure compliance with contractual and client requirements.Drive continuous improvement and innovation by evaluating and deploying new VDC tools, automation (Dynamo/Python), and processes that increase productivity and reduce rework.Support preconstruction and estimating by providing model-based takeoffs, constructability reviews, and production planning information.Represent the VDC department with clients, trade partners, and internal stakeholders; prepare and present model deliverables, training, and progress reports.QualificationsBachelors degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.5+ years of hands-on VDC/BIM experience with progressive leadership responsibility, including managing teams and workflows.Proven expertise with Revit (including Revit MEP), Navisworks Manage, and AutoCAD MEP for modeling and coordination tasks.Strong experience with Bluebeam and digital review/collaboration platforms (BIM 360, Procore, or similar).Solid technical understanding of electrical systems and construction methods to support accurate modeling and coordination.Demonstrated experience leading clash detection processes and resolving multidisciplinary coordination issues.Ability to develop and enforce BIM Execution Plans, LOD specifications, templates, and QA/QC procedures.Excellent communication, client-facing, and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills; experience training and upskilling teams.Familiarity with automation and scripting tools (Dynamo, Python) and model data management is a plus.Professional certifications such as Autodesk Certified Professional, LEED, or other industry credentials are desirable; willingness to travel to project sites as needed.Benefits100k-130k base pay401kGenerous PTO / flex vacation policyStrong benefits package (quality health insurance, robust retirement plans, dental, vision) Voluntary insurance plansOngoing support for professional developmentReimbursement for completing coursework at accredited academic institutions
