The VA has a strong affiliation with the Medical College of Georgia / Augusta University and trains hundreds of residents, fellows, and healthcare trainees annually Location - One Freedom Way, Augusta, GA 30904 Internal Medicine Physician - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to) The Internal Medicine Physician provides outpatient care for acute and chronic conditions. Order and interpret diagnostic tests and imaging. Manage referrals to specialists when necessary. The Internal Medicine Physician develops and implements individualized treatment plans. Participate in Quality Assurance Programs and comply with healthcare regulations. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for patient-centered care. Supervise and mentor residents (if applicable). Stay up-to-date with medical advancements and best practices in Internal Medicine. The Internal Medicine Physician serves as a Primary Care Physician for a panel of patients. Internal Medicine Physician - REQUIREMENTS Must be a graduate of an accredited medical school with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree and have recently completed residency in Internal Medicine. Must be Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). Must have actively practiced or trained in Internal Medicine for at least two of the past three years, with recent experience in procedures such as ECG interpretation and CPR (required), as well as basic synovial fluid analysis, cardiac stress testing, and flexible sigmoidoscopy (preferred). Must have current certification in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support. Must have an active DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances. Must have current license to practice medicine in any state, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States of Columbia.
