Position Summary: Position Summary Comments Assists in the planning, organization, evaluation, and management of drug use and personnel for the department of pharmacy. Appropriate educational standards are met. b. Residents receive necessary guidance and are precepted and evaluated appropriately. c. Standards are met for ASHP residency accreditation. Coordinates staff development and continuing education for staff a. Staff education programs are developed and implemented with objectives and assessments. Quality and Safety Provides leadership for pharmacy services and drug use for UTMC. a. Standards developed for drug use are safe, appropriate, and cost-effective. b. Formulary additions and revisions meet pharmacist and physician consensus. c. Communication with medical and nursing staff as well as other departments is positive and effective. d. Policies and protocols are developed to support safe and effective medication use and standards compliance. Manages clinical staff, specialists, and other professionals engaged in clinical activities and other personnel as necessary a. Performance evaluations are complete, effective and within established deadlines. b. Pharmacists are assigned to appropriate areas of practice. c. Workflow and job assignments support safe and efficient processes. Delivers pharmacy services for specific patients a. Responses to consult requests from medical staff are timely, accurate and appropriate. b. Drug therapy results in positive outcomes for patients/families. c. Responses to medical staff, nursing staff, hospital administration and lay public are timely and accurate. Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures as well as institutional drug protocols for approval by appropriate committees a. All departmental staff are educated regarding new/revised policy/protocol content. Contributes to the achievement of departmental goals and regulatory compliance a. Work is prioritized to support goal achievement and regulatory compliance. b. Activities are documented in accordance with departmental guidelines. Essential Functions The performance of key responsibilities must meet expectations as defined in the performance standards of this position description. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function. A team member who does not meet attendance standards outlined in the Personnel Policy, Attendance and Tardiness, is not qualified for this position. Position Qualification: Education Degree / Diploma Type: Doctorate Program: ?Pharmacy Required/Preferred (and/or): from an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy and a Pharmacy Practice Residency from an ASHP accredited residency program Experience Years of Experience: 4-10 Type of Experience: Oncology Years of Experience can be related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
