Job Description

Full Time (80 Hours/Biweekly) Shift: Days Monday - Friday Weekend, holiday, call rotation as needed General Summary Performs a variety of routine and advanced clinical diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures at an advanced skill and knowledge level. Essential Functions: * Performs diagnostic and therapeutic Nuclear Medicine procedures. Prepares radiopharmaceuticals for administration to patients. Determines the appropriate dosage required based on the study to be performed. * Obtains patient history, reviews patient condition, and administers accurate radiopharmaceutical dosage following established departmental procedures. Monitors patients during the procedure and reports any unusual occurrences to appropriate personnel. * Checks equipment, supplies, and accessories on a regular basis. * Evaluates images for technical quality. * Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations. * Positions and transfers patients safely and comfortably and explains basic procedures. * Immobilizes patients as necessary and practices radiation safety procedures. * Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department. * Introduces and demonstrates new techniques, equipment, and research findings to staff. * Preceptor skills. * Advanced knowledge with patient scheduling. * Knowledge of advanced NM diagnostic protocols. * Advanced knowledge in basic NM therapies. * Additional departmental responsibilities as assigned. Common Expectations: * Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population. Assesses and interprets patient age-specific data and provides appropriate, age-specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s). * Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor, and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to the reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required. * Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. * Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. * Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation. * Supervises, assists and evaluates students in the clinical education setting. * Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas and/or patient rooms. Qualifications Minimum Education: * High School Diploma or GED Required Work Experience: * 3 years Relevant experience.
