Summary Under the supervision of the Quality Manager, The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day environmental, health and safety functions in Tiffin, OH. This includes (but is not limited to) implementing the organization's safety program, collaborating with teams to maintain a safe and healthy work environment, and monitoring the facility and processes for adherence to OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other local regulations and guidelines. Additionally, this role is responsible for the elimination of industrial incidents, conducting environmental monitoring and reporting, providing assistance with environmental permit applications, and assisting with internal EHS audits for the facility. This position works closely with cross-functional teams throughout the facility and leads the pursuit of zero incidents. Essential Duties and Responsibilities This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time. Communication and training * Manage the facility SDS/Hazard Communication program * Conduct and coordinate Safety training * Manage and perform the planning, training, inspection, reporting, and recordkeeping requirements for all environmental and safety compliance programs * Observe workers to determine proper use of prescribed safety equipment and procedures. Train and demonstrate proper use of safety equipment * Supports emergency management plans, including first aid and evacuation, and acts as a liaison for emergency services EHS inspections, monitoring, and documentation * Conduct facility audits to ensure that consistent, best-in-class results and compliance are followed to enable operational excellence. Prepare reports of findings with recommendations for corrective action * Perform Job Safety Analysis of all facility worksite activities, and lead actions for controls and countermeasures * Perform safety risk assessments for product and process capability * Serve as the primary hazardous waste SME, leading efforts to reduce hazardous waste and implement recycling programs. Direct industrial hygiene sampling and support. Conduct and document monthly facility inspections of hazardous waste accumulation/chemical storage areas * Lead the identification, assessment and resolution of ergonomic issues including physical part validation of acceptability to ergonomic standards * Investigate incidents (including injuries, property damage, near misses, releases, and losses) to determine root causes and prepares/directs corrective and preventive action plans * Coordinate Regulatory Compliance Monitoring and Reporting EHS Leadership * Develop and support strategic initiatives designed to produce best in class EHS performance * Provide engaging environmental, health, and safety leadership to the facility employees * Lead a cross-functional safety committee Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience * Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety or related field preferred * Five years of progressively responsible experience running EHS programs * Additional in-house training on special areas as appropriate Other Qualifications * Requires knowledge of shop operations and OSHA standards. Knowledge of welding, painting, material handling, and machining useful. Demonstrated understanding of OSHA, EPA, DOT and local regulations * Proven knowledge of safety equipment and standards * OSHA 30 * Demonstrated ability to influence management, teams, and individuals across multiple functions within the organization * Excellent working knowledge of ergonomic analysis tools * Proven track record of successfully managing shifting deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment * Effective verbal and written communication skills; Spanish bilingual a plus * Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Word and Excel and database management Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents such as blueprints, routings, work orders, engineering specifications, and safety regulations. Ability to write routine reports and documentation. Ability to effectively present information to customers and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as dimensions, tolerances, proportions and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
