With more than 50 faculty members, the rapidly growing and dynamic department provides a high level of expertise for the full breadth of neurological conditions affecting adults and children.Chief Purpose of this position: The Department of Neurology is seeking a full-time clinical faculty member to serve as the Neurohospitalist Director. Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Neurology, the Director will be responsible for establishing and leading a Neurohospitalist Service that will provide inpatient neurology and neurology consultation services throughout the health system, including the VCU Hospital in Richmond, and teleconsultation services to regional hospitals in South Hill and Tappahannock and an Emergency Room in New Kent.Position Responsibilities: 1. ClinicalPrimary clinical responsibilities include care of patients in the inpatient setting.2. TeachingThe faculty member will teach medical students, neurology fellows and critical care fellows from other services (e.g. Anesthesiology).3. ResearchThe Department of Neurology is engaged in clinical and translation research projects. The faculty member will be expected to participate in, and when appropriate lead, clinical research and clinical trials.4.
