A newly established specialty pharmacy in Lufkin, TX is seeking an experienced Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to lead the build-out, licensing, and opening of this innovative operation. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for a pharmacist with proven outpatient or retail specialty pharmacy expertise who is ready to relocate-candidates from Houston, Tyler, or surrounding areas are encouraged to apply. This onsite role places you at the forefront of managing all facets of a specialty pharmacy's launch and ongoing operations. You will collaborate directly with specialty care clinics and providers to optimize patient outcomes and enhance the pharmacy experience for those receiving specialty medications. Key Responsibilities: Serve as the designated PIC responsible for regulatory compliance including State Board of Pharmacy, DEA, and accreditation standards Oversee daily pharmacy operations ensuring safe, accurate dispensing and strict adherence to clinical protocols Manage insurance contracting, formularies, medication access, and financial assistance processes to support patient care Lead staff training and supervision for pharmacists, technicians, and support personnel Conduct audits, maintain compliance documentation, and manage responses to regulatory inspections Drive inventory management, including procurement and handling of temperature-sensitive medications Collaborate with clinic providers in therapeutic substitutions, prior authorizations, and patient counseling Participate in strategic initiatives to expand services and support value-based care models Desired Experience & Qualifications: Licensed Pharmacist with a PharmD or equivalent advanced degree and active, unrestricted TX pharmacist license eligible for PIC designation Prior PIC or Pharmacy Manager experience in outpatient/retail specialty pharmacy (inpatient experience not considered) Strong knowledge of specialty pharmacy workflows, medication therapies, and regulatory requirements Comfortable working in a start-up environment, building workflows and processes from scratch Proficient in pharmacy software (e.g., QS1, PioneerRx) and preferably familiar with EMR or specialty pharmacy systems Exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with a collaborative mindset Schedule: Monday through Friday; hours to be determined.
