We are tasked with staffing the Memorial Healthcare System with ECMO Specialists (RN or RRT). They are expected to perform the following: The ECMO Specialist independently manages ECMO circuits, monitors patient hemodynamics, and collaborates with intensivists, surgeons, and bedside nurses to ensure optimal perfusion, oxygenation, and acid-base balance.This is an ideal opportunity for experienced ICU Registered Nurses (RN) or Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT) seeking advanced practice in extracorporeal life support within a high-performing program. It is ideal that the candidates have both Adult and Pediatric Respiratory experience. ECMO Circuit & Patient ManagementOperate, monitor, and troubleshoot ECMO circuits and related equipmentMaintain circuit integrity and ensure patient safetyManage anticoagulation, blood products, and medication deliverySupport hemodynamic stability and perfusion within ordered parametersManage CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) when integrated with ECMORespond rapidly to emergencies and mechanical complicationsInterdisciplinary CollaborationPartner with ICU nurses, physicians, perfusionists, and respiratory teamsFacilitate safe mobility and participation in Physical/Occupational TherapyParticipate in multidisciplinary rounds and care planningECMO TransportParticipate in ground, helicopter, and fixed-wing ECMO transportsProvide advanced extracorporeal life support during interfacility transfersQuality & Program DevelopmentPerform quality assurance, preventive maintenance, and equipment checksContribute to quality improvement and benchmarking initiativesAssist ECMO Medical Director and Coordinator with program optimizationMaintain ongoing professional development and ECMO educationThe Locations Include: - Memorial Regional Hospital - Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital RequirementsEducation & LicensureGraduate of an accredited:Respiratory Therapy program (RRT - Florida license required) - OR - Registered Nurse program (RN - Florida license required)ExperienceMinimum 2 years ICU experiencePreferred: 1+ year ECMO Specialist experience with formal primer trainingRequired CertificationsBLS (Basic Life Support)ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - within 6 weeks of hirePALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - within 6 weeks of hireIdeal Candidate ProfileStrong background in CVICU, CTICU, PICU, NICU, or Medical ICUAdvanced knowledge of hemodynamics, perfusion, and acid-base balanceConfident managing high-acuity cardiopulmonary life supportCalm under pressure with strong crisis management skillsCommitted to clinical excellence and continuous improvementSalary Description $75,000 - $125,000
