Join a dynamic specialty pharmacy management team launching a brand-new pharmacy in Shreveport, LA. This direct hire opportunity offers an experienced Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) the chance to lead the build-out, opening, and ongoing operations of a specialty pharmacy committed to optimizing care for specialty patients. Position Overview: The PIC will play a critical leadership role, managing compliance with all state and federal pharmacy laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA requirements, and accreditation standards. You will oversee daily pharmacy activities-from accurate dispensing and patient safety to regulatory inspections and insurance contract onboarding. This position requires close collaboration with specialty care clinics to enhance patient outcomes and the overall pharmacy experience. The role is onsite during Monday through Friday business hours, with exact times to be determined. Key Responsibilities: Serve as the designated Pharmacist in Charge with full accountability for licensure and controlled substance oversight Lead regulatory audits and ensure all operational policies and procedures are strictly followed Supervise, train, and support pharmacists, technicians, and support staff to uphold quality standards Coordinate with providers and clinics on formulary management, medication access, and patient counseling Manage inventory procurement, storage, recall processes, and temperature-sensitive drug handling Develop workflows and processes from the ground up in a fast-paced, startup environment Facilitate prior authorization reviews, financial assistance coordination, and appeals for medication access Desired Qualifications: Prior PIC or Pharmacy Manager experience in outpatient/retail specialty pharmacy is essential Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent advanced degree required Active, unrestricted pharmacist license eligible for PIC status in Louisiana, with current LA license in good standing Demonstrated knowledge of specialty medications and pharmacy software systems (e.g., QS1, PioneerRx, EMR experience preferred) Proven ability to collaborate effectively with providers, staff, and patients, delivering strong written and verbal communication Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and a commitment to quality patient care Ability to thrive in a startup environment by taking initiative and fostering teamwork Location: Shreveport, Louisiana (onsite role) Compensation & Benefits: Competitive salary range of $135,000 to $150,000 Performance-based bonuses Equity stake opportunity Unlimited paid time off This direct hire position offers a unique chance to influence and shape a specialized pharmacy operation designed to improve patient care at its core.
