Position Summary: The Department of Plant Sciences at North Dakota State University is seeking a highly motivated and independent postdoctoral researcher to develop novel algorithms/programs to associate genotype and phenotype data. Work with the supervisor to test hypothesis-driven questions. Responsibilities including assistance of experimental design; working with collaborators in developing new research directions; growing plants; managing experimental materials in the greenhouse and field; harvest field trials; developing methods for scoring phenotypes; data analysis using proper statistical methods; result summarizations; data presentations; read research publications; preparing manuscripts for publications. The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal in subsequent years contingent upon progress and the availability of funding. Minimum Qualifications: * Earned Ph.D. degree in plant science, computational biology, population genetics, genomics and/or other related fields. * Two or more years of working experience in computational biology is preferred. * Two or more years of experience working in genomics and phenotypes using programming languages like R and python. * Proven experience in publishing results in scientific journals. * Knowledge of plant breeding, genetics, large-scale experimental design, statistics, computational skills. * Experience with working on NGS data. * Excellent oral/written communication skills; and ability to work effectively with workers. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in writing programs using python or R. * Working experience using Linux.
