The Ophthalmic Technician 1 (OT1) is competent in the theory, principles, and practice of eye care. The position performs appropriate clinical testing in compliance with department standards and documents in the EMR system.CORE JOB FUNCTIONSPerforms and documents the following items in the electronic medical record.A. Reason for visit • Tangent screen visual fieldsB. Chief complaint • Basic ocular motilityC. History of present illness • Pupillary evaluationD. Basic review of systems • Ocular surface assessmentE. Review systemic and ocular medications • Eye drop administrationF. Record allergies • Intraocular pressure such as Goldman, Tono-Pen, and I-CareG. Pharmacy information • PachymetryH. Family, social, medical, and ocular history • Insertion and removal of hard & soft contact lensesI. Visual acuity at distance and near • Color vision testJ. Lensometry • Stereopsis testK. Manual refraction • Sensorimotor examL. Confrontational fields • Automated & manual perimetryM.
