JOB SUMMARY: Supports operational efforts ensuring all facilities remain in compliance with local, state, and federal waste regulations. The RCRA Specialist helps ensure all environmental permits are followed and any reporting to regulatory agencies is timely and accurate. Works collaboratively with external entities, operations personnel, and corporate management to maintain compliance and identify opportunities for continual improvement of A-C-T's waste and compliance programs. The RCRA Specialist will also serve as project manager for disposal projects. They will communicate with our customers, our staff, and regulatory agencies daily. In addition to handling customer needs, they will manage project setup and invoicing within the project management software utilized by A-C-T.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Ability to provide guidance to A-C-T team members and customers on RCRA compliancePerforms technical field/office work as requiredManage a variety of waste stream determinations for RCRA statusWorking knowledge of DOT, RCRA and environmental regulations (EPCRA, TSCA, and CERCLA) and an understanding of the terminology and principles of spill responseProperly classify, identify, package, label, and schedule disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wasteCharacterize, sample, and profile waste streamsPrepare shipping documents in accordance with EPA and DOT regulationsWork closely with Strategic Development to provide pricing and options for waste disposal and transportation Prepare and submit required regulatory reportsAssist management in preparing and maintaining permit applications and modificationsPerform inspections of staging and storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping and compliance.Review and approve all profiles for acceptance into the A-C-T Solid Waste Processing FacilityMeets with customers to participate in job walks to understand the scope of work and any issues that may impact costs and executionWorks with management to schedule the work and assure availability of manpower and equipment resourcesFollow up on jobs with operational team and customers to assure work is completed satisfactorily, issues resolved, invoiced, and monies collectedUpholds the ethics and values of the companyAll other duties as assignedREQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:Knowledge of Project Management Software and Microsoft Office SuiteMust have strong interpersonal skills to support leadership, management, negotiation, and problem-solving functions of this roleExcellent judgement and discretion Effectively communicate with supervisors on areas such as safety, quality, and integrity Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, meet deadlines, and handle quick changing environmentsRemain calm and professional in stressful situationsDetail oriented while maintaining an extremely positive attitudeFriendly, courteous, customer service-oriented, professional, and outgoingMust be able to work independently and productively with minimum supervisionEnsures that assigned tasks are performed with the highest level of qualityEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's Degree (physical sciences, geology, engineering, environmental science (preferred), or a related field) or 2-year college degree and 5 years of experience in environmental industryTwo (2) years' experience with environmental or industrial services projects preferred OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training DOT HazMat (HM-141) TrainingExtensive knowledge of environmental regulations related to waste characterization and management of contaminated sitesUnderstanding of FDEP or EPA standard operation procedures for field samplingUnderstanding of laboratory methodologyTechnical writing skillsProficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Regularly/occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds*Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of the jobRegularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, and see
