OverviewBlack Canyon Consulting (BCC) is searching for a Systematic Review Analyst to work with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to support evidence synthesis and literature research for federal health programs. The analyst will conduct structured searches of biomedical and public health literature to identify, evaluate, and summarize research findings that inform scientific reports, policy analysis, and program decision-making.The role requires expertise in systematic review methods, biomedical literature databases, and research workflows. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in identifying relevant scientific evidence across diverse health topics while ensuring transparency and reproducibility in research processes..Duties & Responsibilities:Literature Search and Evidence GatheringDesign and execute systematic literature searches across scientific databases including PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and related sourcesDevelop structured search strategies using controlled vocabularies (e.g., MeSH) and advanced Boolean search techniquesIdentify relevant peer-reviewed articles, reports, and grey literature to address research questionsMaintain organized libraries of retrieved publications and supporting materialsSystematic Review SupportScreen and evaluate research articles based on defined inclusion and exclusion criteriaExtract key information from relevant studies including methodology, outcomes, and limitationsSupport systematic, scoping, and rapid review workflows in collaboration with subject matter expertsDocument search strategies and review processes to ensure transparency and reproducibilityReporting and CollaborationPrepare literature summaries, annotated bibliographies, and evidence tables to support program reports and policy analysesAssist technical teams and subject matter experts by rapidly identifying relevant scientific evidence for emerging research questionsCommunicate findings clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical stakeholdersCollaborate with interdisciplinary teams supporting federal health research and policy initiativesRequired qualifications:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Library Science, Public Health, Biomedical Science, Information Science, or related field5+ years of experience conducting literature searches or supporting systematic reviews in biomedical or health research domainsStrong experience using scientific literature databases such as PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, or ScopusFamiliarity with systematic review frameworks (e.g., PRISMA or Cochrane methodology)Experience using citation management or review tools such as EndNote, Zotero, Covidence, or RayyanStrong analytical and research skills with attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple research questions and deadlines in a fast-paced environmentClearance and Location RequirementsMust be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearanceMust reside in and be authorized to work in the United StatesAll work must be performed within the United StatesPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or Public Health (MPH)Experience supporting systematic reviews for federal agencies, academic medical centers, or research organizationsExperience contributing to peer-reviewed publications or evidence synthesis reportsFamiliarity with evidence synthesis tools and systematic review workflowsBenefits and SalaryWe attract the best people in the business with our competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental and vision coverage, 401k plan with employer contribution, paid holidays, vacation, and tuition reimbursement.We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience and location.
