Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist, the pharmacy technician responsible for preparing chemotherapy, hazardous, and other medications for patients in Centers for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD) in both inpatient and clinic settings. Responsibilities: * Inventory management of chemotherapy and supportive care mediations in the CCBD pharmacy satellite * Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining integrity of sterile compounding areas * Maintain and monitor proper documentation of compounding, cleaning (including deactivations and decontamination of hazardous drugs), testing, and certification of equipment and compounding areas * Functions both independently and in a team environment * Compounds chemotherapy and related medications with high efficiency and delivers medications throughout the CCBD space * Triages and streamlines medication compounding to effectively compound high cost and short dated chemotherapy * Efficient operation of specialty machinery, equipment, and technology (e.g. baxa pumps, dispense prep and check) * Perform additional responsibilities as necessary WORK EXPERIENCE * At least 5 years experience as a hospital pharmacy technician Required EDUCATION * High school diploma or GED required * 20-hour ACPE accredited IV training course required LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS * Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) as a Registered Technician required * National Certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) preferred * Chemotherapy certification course (required for Sterile Compounding and Chemotherapy Pharmacy Technician). Effective 10/1/2025 team members will have up to 180 days to obtain this required certification, within 90 days is preferred * Completion of PTCB-recognized medication history certificate exam (for transitions of care pharmacy technician) preferred A Place Where You Belong We put our people first.
